Sailing Vessel Irene
Inspiring Sailing Trips, Voyages and Holidays On Board an Historic, Traditional Vessel
Join the crew of Irene this year for the voyage of a lifetime on board this historic tall ship. Enjoy some of the finest sailing locations in the British Isles, with abundant wildlife, stunning scenery and outstanding company.
Throw yourselves into the activities by joining the crew in raising the sails, hauling up the anchor or helming the ship. Alternatively, sit back and watch the scenery drift serenely past the decks. This is your holiday, you choose.
With fabulous en-suite cabins and great food cooked fresh on board, our reputation for the finest hospitality is not an idle boast either. We might be over 110 years old, but some modern facilities are worth embracing!
We run traditional sailing voyages from a single day to a week in the areas around the West Country, the Scilly Isles and the West Coast of Scotland. These are planned between April and September each year.
Our Voyages
No experience necessary. Let our crew take you on the voyage of a lifetime.
From the Westerns Isles to the Scilly Isles, Irene’s voyages last from a single day to a week or more. We take in some of the most stunning sailing destinations in the UK. From beginners to old hands there’s something for all experiences. Whether you fancy a wild thrash up the Irish Sea or a gentle potter round the Cornish coast. Sea kayaking, hill walking or whisky tasting – add in some extra experiences to make your voyage truly memorable.
About Irene
What you should expect if you join us.
From Edwardian cargo vessel to family home to play thing of the rich and famous, Irene’s had a fascinating life. She’s been the darling of the silver screen, burnt and sank in the Caribbean and now earns her keep as a charter vessel. She’s has all the safety equipment you’d expect and is regularly inspected by the MCA. She carries a crew of professional mariners who love sharing their passion for this old lady of the seas. If you’ve sailed tall ships previously, Irene may surprise you with her private ensuite cabins and wonderful hospitality.
Events, Media and Festivals
Alongside our sailing charters, Irene has a history of undertaking corporate events, media work, films and private events. Whether you’re considering the next marketing event for your company, planning a wedding with a difference or looking for a historic set for film or television, please do get in contact. Irene has experience in all of these!
Film Location
With credits including Pirates of the Caribbean and Alice Through the Looking Glass, Irene is no stranger to the silver screen! Looking for a historic sailing vessel to add realism and character to your film? We are used to working with film and media companies. At sea or in harbour we can work with your team to ensure you get the perfect shot and our crew will ensure Irene is painted and rigged in a manner to play the part to perfection!
Private Events
Weddings, special birthdays or other celebrations? Why not charter the whole vessel and make it a party to remember. We can host parties of up to 60 people and you can be assured that the ship will be dressed appropriately for the occasion. Get in touch if we can help you celebrate. As much notice as possible is appreciated as we need to ensure our charter programme will accommodate any event.
Maritime Festivals
We love to bring Irene to maritime festivals and have been recognised by National Historic Ships with their Flagship of the Year award for our efforts to bring maritime heritage to the public. We’ve been regular attendees at Brest, Douarnenez, Milford Haven and Bristol Harbour festivals in recent years. We’re happy to attend as a floating exhibit, to provide corporate entertainment or offer sailing experiences for your visitors.
From Our Guest Book
Guests from last season have been kind enough to share their thoughts on their voyage on Irene. Some of the highlights are below. Thanks to everybody who joined us and made it such a memorable year.
Absolutely recommend. My first time sailing and I was a little apprehensive but no reason to be. This a safe and enjoyable introductory experience with just the right amount of encouragement to participate.
SO 2019
Just returned from my first ever sailing trip, which happened to be on board the beautiful Irene. I had no idea what to expect – but it was great! The crew made me feel very welcome. Lovely people, lovely company from the other guests, and a real adventure.
SS 2019
What a week of amazing experiences – incredible crew (thank you!), sailing and food. Topped off by seriously good whiskies! Heaven!
